Do you know how to optimize a web site for the search engines? Or do you even know what Search Engine Optimization is for that matter? If you don’t know what search engine optimization is, the basic definition is that SEO is the process of improving the quality of traffic and the website’s prominence in the search engines via “organic” or natural and free listings.
People often think of SEO as just tossing keywords into each page and calling it a night. Sorry folks, but this just isn’t the way it works.
A lot of time and thought goes into the process. This is what I consider SEO:
- Site structure review
- Fix Technical Issues that may hinder SEO success
- Competitor analysis
- Keyword Research
- Content Creation
- On-Page Implementation
- Internal Linking
- Link Building
- Analytics Review
These are all things that are very important if you want your site to be successful. I’ll be explaining all of these things in upcoming posts so stick around, and you’ll soon be optimizing sites like a pro.

How would you optimize a site that’s just mainly a photo gallery?
Content is always the best way to go when it comes to SEO but there are still a lot of things you can do for your site. You can add alt=”” attributes to each of your pictures, putting descriptions and keywords within the quotation marks to start. This shouldn’t be spammed though, since these attributes are mainly used for accessibility for the blind. You can also still put keyword rich titles on each of the pages as well as using good keywords in your meta tags. The best thing for your site would be to get good incoming links to pages within your site from related websites.
Im a blogger trying to SEO my site on my own, I don’t know where this will take me but I can say I am learning a lot of new things. Linked is the blog I am talking about. It’s Alexa is still very high… But Im pretty sure I can do this… 🙂
